A Note from the Secretary
I hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you all the best for 2010. Last year the Society saw a great selection of speakers and variety of subjects. We also squeezed in an additional speaker to mark our fortieth anniversary and presented the Society to a wider audience by putting on a stand at the city’s Heritage Fair. November’s annual show also saw an increase in the numbers through the door. The newsletter includes the report from that weekend and I wish to repeat my sincere thanks to all that participated and supported the event and contributed to its success.
To those members who still need to renew their subscription, please do so as soon as possible, either at the next meeting or by sending a cheque for £6.00 to the Society Treasurer, David Gray, at 59, Francis Gardens, Peterborough, Cambs, PE1 3XT. Your Society needs your support in order to survive
Next Monthly Meeting
The next meeting is on Wednesday, 10th February 2010 when the speaker will be fellow member Tony Stubbs who will give a presentation about ‘War Memorials.’
Last Meeting
This was our first talk of the year and was entitled “Vimy-The Great Pilgrimage” presented by John Chester. Also visiting was Terry Downing from “Help for Heroes” to accept the money raised at the 2009 Annual Exhibition. The 2009 “Member of the Year” and “Essay of the Year” awards were also presented (see Home Page for details).
