A Note from the Editor
Whilst not forgetting the young men and women of today’s generation fighting for our country, this month’s newsletter focuses in the main on the young men and women of seventy years ago. With the inevitable passage of time the veterans who wear the Battle of Britain clasp now number fewer than 100. It is therefore only fitting that this month’s newsletter pays tribute to the man that led them and this month’s meeting remembers the campaign in which they fought.
For those that may not be aware next year sees a major refurbishment of the museum. The museum will not therefore be available for our regular monthly meetings after December 2010 till at least Sept/Oct 2011. You can rest assured however moves are afoot for an alternative temporary venue for next year and the details will be given in due course.
To those members who still need to renew their subscription, please do so as soon as possible, either at the next meeting or by sending a cheque for £6.00 to the Society Treasurer, David Gray, at 59, Francis Gardens, Peterborough, Cambs, PE1 3XT. Your Society needs your support in order to survive
Next Monthly Meeting
The next meeting is on Wednesday, 11th August, 2010 when the speaker will be society Secretary, Nigel Marshall, who will tell the story of the events of seventy years ago with an account of “The Battle of Britain 1940”
